Getting Fit with Omron

The way I think about fitness and eating changed almost nine months ago.  I was given many tools to assist me in weight loss throughout my campaign as  Mamavation mom.  One of my favorite tools is a pedometer.  This particular pedometer I have had for about a month, it was given to me as part of the Omron Blogger Campaign.

The Omron HJ-112 is a pocket pedometer.  It can be placed horizontally or vertically.  The pedometer will track steps from your pocket, waistband, and even your purse.  The plastic clip can break if clipped to a wide belt or waistband, Omron will replace the clip if that happens.  The Omron HJ-112 was rated #1 by Consumer Reports for over ten years, recently it moved to the #2 spot.  I love that it stores my step count for seven days, for the times that I forget to input the days steps into my tracking log.

My daily goal is a minimum of 10,000 steps, with at least half being aerobic steps.  Reaching 10,000 steps in one day has not ever happened by accident, at least for me.  My regular mom and wife duties usually have me at 2,000-6,000 steps.  To get to 10,000 steps, I usually go for an evening walk or run.  Saturdays are usually my high step count day, as I begin the day by getting all 10,000 steps in one long run/walk. I know that my weight loss would not be the number it is, if I didn’t track my daily steps.

Omron has some exciting things in store over the next few weeks.  I will be interviewing Bob Greene, courtesy of this campaign!  Watch for my post about the interview and see what other surprises Omron has in store! Starting March 5th – April 1st the OmronFitness Facebook Page will be giving away gift cards, a variety of Omron products, Bob Greene autographed books, and the grand prize four day, three night stay for two at the Canyon Ranch Spa in Tucson, Arizona.  Who wouldn’t want a spa vacation?

You can follow my daily movement as well as the other bloggers in this campaign on twitter via the #fitwithomron hashtag.  Just remember some movement is better than no movement.  10,000 steps (about 5 miles) is recommended for weight loss.  How do you get more movement into your day?

I’m being compensated to write this post by Bookieboo LLC in a blogger campaign with Omron Fitness.
